At BETT 2025, the world’s largest education technology exhibition, Wonder, a creative business experience agency, brought Canva’s Creative Lab to life. Designed to inspire educators and students, the stand provided hands-on workshops, expert-led sessions, and interactive demos, empowering teachers to unlock creativity in the classroom.
But when the event ended, 110sqm of stretch graphics from the stand needed a new purpose. Rather than letting them go to waste, Wonder partnered with Event Cycle to give these materials a second life.
Crafting an onward life The branded graphics that we received were repurposed by Little A.R.K, a social enterprise that provides flexible employment to women facing barriers to work. These materials were transformed into draught excluders, reducing waste while providing much-needed warmth and comfort.
A Creative Future at Poplar Primary School
The draught excluders, along with additional unbranded stretch graphics, were sent to Friends of Poplar Primary School, a parent-teacher association dedicated to enriching students’ education. Located in South West London, the PTA funds essential school resources like library books, iPads, outdoor equipment, and activity days.
The school will use the draught excluders to improve classroom comfort, with any surplus being distributed to families in need. Meanwhile, the remaining graphics material will be repurposed for craft activities, workshops, outdoor coverings, and even fence blocking, demonstrating the versatility of repurposed event materials.
A Smarter, More Sustainable Approach to Events
This collaboration showcases how event materials can serve a greater purpose long after an exhibition ends. By repurposing event materials, they are:
✅ Reducing waste and keeping materials in use
✅ Supporting schools and communities with valuable resources
✅ Encouraging a more circular thinking in the events industry
Through innovative solutions like these, Event Cycle continues to help the events industry embrace a circular economy by turning what was once waste into valuable resources for communities that need them most.
